This listing is for one chickadee ornament. ♦♦♦YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THE ONE PICTURED♦♦♦ but it will be very similar. (Let me know if you have a preference for right or left facing).
This raku chickadee ornament is handmade by me, Sarah Beck in my studio in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada.
It is approximately 3.5" in length and about 3.25" across the little pine branch it sits on. The details on the branch are from a real pine bough pressed into the clay before firing. It is raku fired, which gives the white glaze a nice crackle. The back is unglazed clay, blackened by the smoke of the raku firing. A stretchy cord is looped through a hanger on the back. I hung some of these on my Christmas tree this year and they looked cute. Of course you can hang these anywhere for cheerful, year-round company.
My raku pieces are bisque fired once to make them hard, then glazed and fired again in an outdoor kiln. When the pieces are red hot I pull them out of the kiln with tongs allowing the glazes to crackle while cooling for a very short time in the air or on the ground. I then put them in a metal container filled with newspaper which bursts into flames, blackening all the areas I haven't glazed with smoke and filling in the crackle lines. Every piece is different some have more crackle, some less, but all are unique.
I also have a pinback button badge shop here on Zibbet selling buttons, rings, earrings, magnets and coasters. You can find that shop here: www.zibbet.com/theartfulbadger
